WOMEN IN ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Women in Engineering (WiE) Program is a new initiative that GEMS started at the beginning of 2014 with the aim of creating a community amongst WiE scholarship recipients at QUT.  WiE Scholarship recipients are provided guidance within this program to actively engage and contribute to the wider community where they will ultimately progress into positions of leadership. The second installment of the scholarship payment is conditional to the student’s contributions and participation in the program.

By bridging this link, GEMS wants to raise awareness that Engineering is not just a degree where knowledge of mathematics and physics are the only imperative; rather, promote the idea that humanitarian and social causes are just as important in creating opportunities and innovative solutions for future generations.

We aim to provide a linkage scholarship recipients by running mentoring workshops and events that will encourage personal and professional development. This program is continually developed, to ensure that it remains relevant and appealing for future and current female students in engineering. Through creating a welcoming, supportive and enriching culture for women in engineering, we hope to be part of their holistic university experience.
